Overview
Honeywell WAVE2 Two-Tone Indoor Alarm Siren
Overview
The Honeywell WAVE2 is a hardwired indoor siren delivering 106 dB of sound output in a two-tone pattern (warble and steady). It features a hinged snap-open case design that simplifies wiring and maintenance. The terminal strip connection eliminates soldering, and the unit operates on 6-12 VDC with a maximum current draw of 500 mA.
Deployment scenarios
The WAVE2 provides high-output audible notification for residential and commercial alarm systems. At 106 dB, it is significantly louder than panel-integrated sounders and wireless siren options, making it appropriate for large spaces, noisy environments, or installations where maximum sound output is required for occupant notification and intruder deterrence.
Mounting and installation
The WAVE2 mounts to a single-gang electrical box, wall plate, corner bracket, or ceiling surface. Dimensions are 3.25" W x 4.25" H x 2.0" D. The hinged snap-open case provides quick access to the terminal strip for wiring without removing the unit from the wall. No soldering is required.
Power requirements
Operating voltage is 6-12 VDC. Maximum current draw is 500 mA. Ensure the siren power output from the panel or a dedicated siren driver can supply the required current.

The WAVE2 is the standard hardwired indoor siren I specify when the built-in panel sounder or wireless siren options are insufficient. At 106 dB, it provides a level of audible notification that wireless options at 85 dB cannot match.
Technical Highlights:
- 106 dB output: High sound pressure level ensures audibility across large areas and through closed doors
- Hinged case design: Snap-open housing provides fast wiring access without removing the unit from the mounting surface
Deployment Considerations:
- Verify that the panel siren output or siren driver can supply 500 mA at the operating voltage before installation
- For multi-siren installations, a dedicated siren driver with its own power supply is recommended to avoid overloading the panel auxiliary output
The snap-open hinged case is a small detail that makes a real difference during installation and service. It saves time on every siren in a multi-siren commercial installation.
