Honeywell 5816WMWH Wireless Door/Window Transmitter
Overview
The Honeywell 5816WMWH is a two-zone wireless door and window transmitter in a white housing, operating on the 345 MHz frequency band. It includes a built-in reed switch for the primary zone and screw terminals for connecting an external wired contact or sensor on a second zone, providing dual-zone monitoring from a single wireless device.
Deployment scenarios
This transmitter is the standard choice for residential and commercial door/window protection on Honeywell 5800-series systems. The external loop input allows installers to connect a second contact, a garage door tilt sensor, or any normally closed device to the same transmitter, reducing the number of wireless zones consumed on the panel.
Integration and compatibility
The 5816WMWH is compatible with VISTA-15P, VISTA-20P, LYNX Touch L5210, L7000, and all panels supporting the 5800-series wireless protocol. Cover tamper protection is included. Operating temperature range is 32 F to 122 F (0 C to 50 C).
Installation notes
Dimensions are 1-9/16" W x 3-1/16" H x 1-3/16" D. The unit runs on a 3 V lithium battery. The white housing blends with standard residential trim. Mount the transmitter on the door or window frame with the magnet on the moving element, maintaining proper alignment for the internal reed switch.

The 5816WMWH is the workhorse wireless contact in almost every Honeywell residential installation I have built. The second zone input is genuinely useful for pairing a primary door contact with an auxiliary sensor without burning an extra zone on the panel.
Technical Highlights:
- Dual-zone capability: Internal reed switch plus external loop input monitors two points from one transmitter
- Panel compatibility: Works with the full range of VISTA, LYNX Touch, and 5800-compatible panels
Deployment Considerations:
- Use the external loop for auxiliary contacts such as garage tilt sensors to conserve panel zone slots
- Verify the magnet alignment gap during installation since reed switch sensitivity varies with door frame material
Stock these in quantity for any 5800-series installation. The external loop input alone makes this a better choice than single-zone alternatives for most applications.
