Overview

The HID 20NKS-00-00BMMD is a compact multi-credential reader from the Signo 20 family, designed for access control systems that require support for multiple card technologies without dedicated keypad input. This reader handles proximity (125kHz EM 4100), NFC, DESFire, iCLASS, MIFARE, HID, and SEOS credentials — useful when your facility runs mixed legacy and modern card stock simultaneously. Communication occurs over OSDP v2 (Open Supervised Device Protocol), which encrypts credential data at 32-bit standard and integrates cleanly with third-party access control panels that speak OSDP. The black housing with silver trim baseplate mounts to a surface, and card pulsing mode is enabled by default to optimize read range performance. LED and buzzer functions are disabled in this SKU variant, keeping the reader silent for environments where visual/audio feedback creates noise or distraction.

Compatibility

The 20NKS-00-00BMMD works with any OSDP v2-compliant access control panel — not limited to HID systems. It reads 32-bit EM card formats natively and supports NFC formats via embedded secure element hardware. If your panel supports OSDP and you're running a multi-credential environment (some users on proximity cards, others on smart cards or mobile NFC), this reader bridges that gap without requiring separate hardware per credential type. Installation Notes

Surface-mounted orientation is standard; wiring connects via OSDP serial protocol to your access control panel's reader input. No separate power supply is required if your panel supplies power over the OSDP link. Confirm wiring gauge and cable run length against your panel's documentation — long runs (over 100 feet) may degrade signal integrity.
