The Geovision 84-LPR1200-001U is a 1MP all-in-one IP license plate recognition (LPR) camera designed for vehicle identification deployments. Built-in recognition processing eliminates the need for separate software or edge appliances — the 84-LPR1200-001U handles plate capture, character extraction, and matching directly at the camera level. Effective recognition range reaches 20 meters, suitable for parking entrances, toll lanes, and perimeter monitoring where you need real-time plate data without a separate analytics server. Integrated power delivery simplifies cabling and reduces installation touch points in vehicle-monitoring applications.
The 84-LPR1200-001U is a standalone IP-based camera designed for integration into standard IP surveillance networks. It connects via Ethernet with integrated power delivery, compatible with any ONVIF-capable VMS (Video Management System) or custom integration consuming the RTSP stream. Deploy alongside existing IP camera infrastructure, but note that plate recognition results are delivered as metadata and/or on-device match lists — ensure your VMS or third-party middleware supports ONVIF metadata ingestion if you intend to pass alerts downstream. The camera is compatible with Geovision's own IP camera management platforms as well as ONVIF-compliant third-party systems.
Mount the camera at a height and angle that captures vehicles approaching at the 20-meter recognition distance — typically 2.5 to 3.5 meters above ground for head-on or near-parallel approach angles. Avoid steep horizontal angles that foreshorten license plates. Run standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet with integrated power — no separate power supply required. Position away from direct sun glare reflecting off windshields; plate character clarity depends on contrast. Test recognition accuracy at your intended mounting location before final commissioning, as plate fonts, reflectivity, and vehicle speed all affect real-time match rates.
