Overview
The GV-FACE operates as a bridge between Wiegand-native devices and networked access control systems. It draws power via standard 802.3af PoE—eliminating the need for auxiliary wiring at the installation point—and pairs 8MP imaging capability with a varifocal lens for concurrent credential capture during access events. The IP66 rating seals the enclosure against dust and water jets, and the IK10 impact resistance (20 joules) handles high-traffic or exposed mounting locations without degradation. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) processing maintains readable detail in mixed lighting (doorway sun glare + interior shadow), critical for credential legibility in event logs. The converter integrates natively with Wiegand protocol devices, simplifying retrofit workflows where panel replacement is not an option.
Compatibility
The GV-FACE works with any Wiegand-compliant card reader, proximity reader, or access control panel outputting standard Wiegand signals (26-bit or 37-bit formats). Retrofit scenarios include legacy HID readers, Honeywell panels, and third-party proximity systems wired to existing Wiegand-output access controllers. Verify your reader's output format (26-bit vs. 37-bit) and the target IP access control platform's Wiegand input support before deployment. Network integration flows through standard ONVIF or vendor-specific APIs depending on your VMS or access control system.
Installation Notes
The GV-FACE ships as a cable-form converter requiring discrete Wiegand signal input (typically four-wire: clock, data, ground, and shield) and PoE data injection at the network termination. Mount within line-of-sight of the reader to minimize clock-to-data skew on the Wiegand pair. Confirm your switch supports PoE (802.3af) power delivery; the device draws 15.4W. In outdoor or washdown environments, the IP66 rating allows direct rain and dust exposure, but not full submersion—if required, specify IP67 equivalents in consultation with the manufacturer. The varifocal lens accommodates reading distances between 0.3–2.0 meters; adjust during commissioning to frame the credential holder's face or card in the captured image.
