Geovision GV-POE1601 PoE Switch
Overview
The Geovision GV-POE1601 is a wall-mount 802.3af Power over Ethernet switch built to consolidate power and data delivery for distributed surveillance and access control installations. It accepts 100–240 V AC input (no voltage converter needed across North American and international standards) and delivers standardized PoE to any compatible IP camera, intercom, or access control reader on the same network segment. Use this switch when you're deploying fixed-dome or turret cameras, compact readers, or low-power IoT endpoints across a facility and want to avoid running separate power infrastructure to each remote location.
Compatibility
The GV-POE1601 works with any ONVIF-compliant device rated for 802.3af PoE input — this includes most fixed-dome and turret cameras under 13W draw, standard IP intercoms, compact access control readers, and VoIP endpoints. It functions as a transparent network bridge; video, audio, and control traffic pass through unchanged. Do not pair this with PoE+ (802.3at) or PoE++ (802.3bt) devices — those require higher wattage than 802.3af delivers, and connecting them will fail silently or throttle performance.
Installation Notes
Mount the unit on a wall in your network closet, DIN rail enclosure, or distributed hub location. The compact form factor fits standard rack shelving and wall brackets. Provide stable 100–240 V AC power; no external power supply is needed for the switch itself. Verify your network switch or PoE injector has enough budget (802.3af Class 0 is 15.4W per port at the source; account for cable losses over distance). If devices are more than 100 meters from the power source, consult your cabling contractor about voltage drop.
