Overview
The ATEN VK2100A is a full-size environment control unit designed for centralized AV and building automation management in meeting rooms, control rooms, and commercial AV installations. At its core, the VK2100A acts as the hardware controller hub in ATEN's ATEN Control System ecosystem, executing programmed commands to manage connected devices via IR, relay, and serial interfaces. The unit supports up to 16 active licenses, enabling deployment across spaces where multiple controlled device profiles must run simultaneously. Universal AC input (100–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz) means installation flexibility across North American and international facilities without power conditioning hardware.
Compatibility
The VK2100A is the full-size controller node within the ATEN Control System platform, compatible with ATEN's Control System software and licensed device profiles. It pairs with ATEN keypads, touch panels, and control interfaces designed for the VK-series ecosystem. The onboard IR receiver LED supports IR learning from remote controls of third-party AV equipment — projectors, displays, matrix switchers — enabling integration without custom wiring to those devices. The 4 x 12 VDC output ports (2 x 4-pole terminal block connectors, 2A max shared across all four) power downstream ATEN control accessories such as relay expansion modules and IR emitters. The single USB Type-A port supports peripheral attachment per ATEN system requirements. Firmware v4.2.413 (released 2026-05-18) is the current validated release; verify compatibility against your ATEN Control System software version before deploying in a production environment.
Installation Notes
The VK2100A supports pole, recessed, and rack mount installation — note that ATEN expresses rack-mount physical dimensions in L×W×H format rather than the standard W×D×H convention, so verify mechanical drawings before cutting rack space. The 12 VDC output supply is shared across all four ports at 2A max total — plan downstream device power draw accordingly to avoid overloading the shared supply. Operating humidity ceiling is 80% RH non-condensing; avoid installations in uncontrolled environments with condensation risk. The semi-recessed reset pushbutton is intentionally recessed to prevent accidental resets in production deployments. Internal storage is 8GB flash — sufficient for control system configuration and firmware, but not a general-purpose storage resource. Connect to an ATEN network infrastructure with appropriate access controls, as the control system manages physical device outputs.
