ATEN VK2200 Environment Control System Full-Size Unit (2nd Generation) with Dual LAN

Overview

The ATEN VK2200 is a full-size, second-generation environment control unit designed to centralize management of AV and building-environment devices — displays, projectors, lighting controllers, HVAC interfaces, and other IR- or serial-controlled equipment — within a single rack-mounted controller. The VK2200 supports up to 32 device licenses, making it the right platform for medium-to-large rooms or multi-zone deployments where a compact controller would exhaust its license ceiling. Dual LAN ports allow the unit to sit on two separate network segments simultaneously, useful when AV control and building IT operate on isolated VLANs. An onboard 128×64 LCD with three pushbuttons (Up, Down, Enter) provides local status and navigation without requiring a laptop on-site. The semi-recessed reset button guards against accidental factory resets during normal rack maintenance.

Compatibility

The VK2200 is part of the ATEN Control System ecosystem and is designed to work with ATEN VK-series expansion units, relay boxes, and I/O modules — including the VK0100 control pad, VK2100 compact controller, and VK-series expansion interfaces. It is programmed and managed through ATEN's Configurator software (ATEN Control System GUI), which runs on Windows and generates the control project files deployed to the unit. Controlled devices connect via the four 12 VDC output ports (2×4-pole terminal block connectors, shared 2A max across all four ports — factor this into your device load budget), one USB Type-A port, and the onboard IR receiver/learning LED. Firmware v4.2.413 (released 2026-05-18) is the current validated release for this unit.

Installation Notes

Input power is universal — 100–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz, 1A — so no step-down transformer is needed in international deployments. The four 12 VDC output ports share a 2A maximum; driving multiple loads simultaneously requires careful current budgeting to avoid tripping the shared limit. Operating humidity ceiling is 80% RH non-condensing — adequate for most conditioned equipment rooms but not suitable for uncontrolled outdoor or high-humidity enclosures. Storage is 8GB flash, sufficient for project files and firmware but not intended for media or logging archives. Mount options include pole, recessed, and rack configurations; confirm your bracket or rack-ear accessory selection against the physical unit dimensions before ordering.
