Overview
The ACTi E93 is a 5MP indoor mini dome that solves the recurring problem of detail loss in mixed-lighting spaces — retail floors with skylight glare, offices near windows, hallways with bright exits and dim corners. The 5MP sensor delivers sufficient resolution for identification across medium-range coverage, while the WDR engine balances bright and dark areas in a single frame without the blown-out halo artifacts that plague cheaper implementations. The compact dome housing fits flush into drop ceilings and corner mounts where larger turrets or bullets would dominate the visual footprint. Power is handled entirely through PoE (802.3af), meaning a single Cat5e/Cat6 run carries both video and power — no separate 12V supply, no local breaker coordination, no extra labor. The E93 integrates into standard IP surveillance networks via ONVIF and common VMS platforms, making it a straightforward swap into existing enterprise or mid-market deployments.
Compatibility
The E93 works with any standard network video recorder or VMS platform that supports ONVIF Profile S (H.264/H.265 streaming) — this includes Milestone, Genetec, Axis Camera Station, and virtually all enterprise-grade NVR systems. PoE delivery requires a compatible switch or injector capable of delivering at least 13W at 802.3af (standard 48V, 0.5A minimum). Typical commercial PoE switches (Netgear, Ubiquiti, Cisco, Meraki) all meet this requirement. No special licensing or proprietary software is required for basic recording and playback.
Installation Notes
Mount the E93 to ceiling or wall using the provided dome housing bracket. Ensure mounting surface can support the 0.8 lb unit weight. Run a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable from the nearest PoE-enabled network switch or injector to the camera RJ-45 connector. The camera draws approximately 4–8W under normal operation (well within 802.3af budget), so power budget is rarely a concern even on densely populated switches. No specialized tools are required beyond a standard crimped Ethernet cable and drill bit for bracket installation.
