The EA1340 is a dual-function environmental sensor for data center rack and cabinet deployments, measuring both differential air pressure and ambient temperature at the PDU level. It connects via a standard RJ11-4P4C interface and ships with a 3-meter cable — long enough to reach from a mid-rack PDU to a ceiling plenum or floor-level vent without an extension. The primary use case is airflow verification: differential pressure readings confirm whether hot-aisle/cold-aisle containment is actually working, or flag blockages before they become thermal events. Temperature accuracy of ±1°C in the 0–40°C operating window gives you reliable baseline data for capacity planning and alerting, not just rough trend lines. Pressure accuracy is ±1% across the 15–35°C range, with a temperature coefficient of -0.1 Pa/°C to account for thermal drift.
The EA1340 is designed for use with ATEN intelligent PDU families that expose an RJ11-4P4C sensor port — including the PE, PG, and NRGence eco PDU series. Verify your PDU's sensor port count and firmware version against ATEN's PDU compatibility matrix before ordering; not every PDU SKU in the PDU category exposes an active sensor bus on the RJ11 port. This sensor does not communicate over IP independently — it relies entirely on the host PDU for data aggregation and SNMP or web-based reporting. If your data center power infrastructure uses a different sensor bus standard (e.g., proprietary modular sensor rails from another vendor), the EA1340 will not adapt to it.
Operating range is 0–60°C with humidity below 95% RH non-condensing — suitable for conditioned data center environments but not rated for outdoor or industrial spaces. Storage should remain below 40°C and 90% RH. The plastic housing is lightweight at 0.09 kg (approximately 0.2 lb), so cable management rather than mechanical support is the primary installation consideration. Mount the sensor probe at the intake or exhaust measurement point relevant to your airflow model; placement directly against a hot surface or in direct airflow turbulence will skew differential pressure readings outside the ±1% accuracy band.
