The EA1540 is a capacitive leakage sensor designed to detect electrical leakage conditions at PDU and power distribution installations. It connects into monitored power environments where early leakage detection prevents equipment damage and reduces unplanned downtime. The EA1540 operates on a wide 10–30VDC input range, making it compatible with most industrial and datacenter control voltage rails without a dedicated supply. Its NPN open-collector output interfaces directly with PLC input cards, relay modules, and PDU controller ports that expect a sinking signal — no signal conditioning required in the majority of install scenarios. The 2-meter, 22AWG three-conductor cable is pre-terminated, keeping wiring straightforward at the panel.
The EA1540 is designed for use with ATEN PDU product lines that support external sensor inputs, including ATEN's PE and eco PDU series with sensor port headers. The NPN output status (normally open) is also compatible with third-party environmental monitoring controllers that accept dry-contact or NPN sinking inputs on their sensor ports — verify your controller's input type before ordering. The IP66-rated PP housing suits both enclosed rack environments and exposed utility closet installs where periodic wash-down or dust accumulation is a concern.
Supply voltage: Keep the DC supply between 10V and 30V; outside this range, output behavior is undefined. Output loading: The NPN output sinks up to 150mA max — stay within this limit when driving relay coils directly. Leakage current: The sensor's own leakage is ≤0.1mA, and residual output voltage at logic-low is ≤0.1V, both well within PLC input thresholds. Sensitivity: The onboard 270° trimmer lets you calibrate detection threshold on-site — useful when background leakage from long cable runs would otherwise cause nuisance trips. Protection: The internal circuit guards against short circuit and polarity reversal, so a reversed DC connection during installation won't damage the unit. Insulation is rated at 100MΩ / 500VDC; dielectric strength is verified at 2.5kV per minute — both standard for PDU sensor acceptance testing. Ripple tolerance is 10% peak-to-peak on the supply rail.
