Veracity VLT-1N-SC100-BB Ethernet to Fibre Media Converter
Overview
The VLT-1N-SC100-BB is a wired Ethernet-to-fibre media converter designed to extend 100Base-TX network runs beyond standard copper cable limits. It carries 25W PoE (802.3af) over fibre to remote cameras, access control, or intercom endpoints — solving the distance and electromagnetic interference problems that plague long copper runs in industrial, warehouse, and campus deployments. The unit supports RG-11, RG-59, and RG-6 coaxial cable types and extends coverage to 1400 metres (4,600 feet), making it practical for perimeter security, multi-building sites, and installations where standard Cat5/Cat6 budget or signal loss would force expensive switcher or repeater chains.
Compatibility
The VLT-1N-SC100-BB integrates with any PoE-powered camera, access control panel, or network device that draws up to 25W at 802.3af standard voltage. It pairs with Veracity LIGHTSPAN media converter ecosystems and works in hybrid installations mixing fibre backbone with legacy coax infrastructure. Confirm your endpoint device supports 802.3af power input and 100Base-TX Ethernet — devices rated for higher power budgets or faster speeds (Gigabit+) will not function with this converter.
Installation Notes
Deploy the VLT-1N-SC100-BB at both ends of the fibre or coaxial run — one unit at the switch/PoE injector, one at the remote device. Connect Ethernet in on the near end, fibre or coax out toward the remote location. Verify cable type matches the supported specifications (RG-11, RG-59, RG-6); mismatched or damaged shielding will degrade range and power delivery. No external power supply is required if sourcing from a PoE-compliant switch; optional V-series supply available for maximum power or non-PoE configurations. Test link integrity before final commissioning — signal loss beyond 1400m will cause dropout.
