Comelit 1456S VIP Gateway Slave Rack Mount
Overview
The Comelit 1456S is a slave gateway unit built for single-user operation within the Comelit VIP intercom and access control ecosystem. It serves as a secondary gateway node that requires a door entry monitor to function — this is the subordinate piece in a master/slave configuration. Deployed as a 4 DIN-module rack-mount device, the 1456S operates on PoE (802.3af) power, eliminating dedicated power cabling in standard network rack environments. It enables remote door entry control and intercom communication via the Comelit ViP mobile app on tablets and smartphones, with automatic failover between Wi-Fi and 3G/4G connectivity.
Compatibility
The 1456S integrates into Comelit VIP systems as a secondary gateway node. It connects to a master door entry monitor via the ViP system riser input and requires that master unit to be present — it will not operate standalone. The unit supports up to 15 connected appliances (door monitors, tablets, smartphones, PCs) with 4 simultaneous audio/video streams and intercom routing between all paired devices. Compatible with Comelit ViP App ecosystems requiring distributed gateway nodes for redundancy or expanded user capacity across multi-unit or commercial deployments.
Installation Notes
The 1456S features 1 Ethernet port for ViP system riser input, 1 PoE port, 2 PoE ports (configurable to non-PoE if needed), and 1 non-PoE port, plus a dedicated power supply input. Physical footprint: 70×90×62 mm (4 DIN modules). Gateway operation depends on ADSL router or equivalent device providing local Wi-Fi and 3G/4G connectivity. Bandwidth limitations may reduce device capacity — plan for 4 simultaneous streams under typical conditions. Install behind an active door entry monitor; slave operation without a master gateway will not function.
