NETGEAR CM700-100NAS Gigabit DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
Overview
The CM700-100NAS is a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem engineered to bridge cable ISP service directly to Ethernet infrastructure — a fit for remote surveillance sites, backup connectivity, or small-office deployments where you need modem-only bridging without integrated router functions. This modem terminates a standard coaxial cable drop (RG6 or RG11) and delivers Gigabit-class Ethernet via RJ-45 to a switch, router, or NVR. Deploy it in network closets, equipment rooms, or outdoor enclosures where cable service feeds local infrastructure. Typical scenarios include multi-building sites where fiber isn't available, surveillance or access control systems requiring cable as a secondary ISP, or remote office uplinks that need consolidation into a single modem.
Compatibility
The CM700-100NAS works with any standard Gigabit Ethernet device: managed or unmanaged switches, enterprise routers, network video recorders, access control appliances, and IP camera management systems. Requires DOCSIS 3.0 provisioning from your cable ISP — coordinate MAC address registration and service activation before deployment. No special firmware or driver requirements; plug RJ-45 into your network infrastructure and coaxial into the ISP drop. Compatible with both residential and commercial cable service in North America.
Installation Notes
Requires standard 12V DC power supply (included in kit). Mount in a climate-controlled enclosure or network closet to keep operating temperature within spec. Coaxial connection uses standard F-type connectors — no special tools needed. LED status indicators on the Ethernet port and modem front panel show link, activity, and sync state — useful for troubleshooting during commissioning and for ongoing visibility into ISP connectivity. The 960m effective range indicates maximum cable run distance; verify your ISP drop doesn't exceed this before installation. Allow 24–48 hours after activation for ISP provisioning to complete.
