Overview
The Veracity VCS-8P2-MOB is an 8-port PoE+ switch designed for mobile surveillance installations, vehicle-mounted camera systems, and temporary field deployments where standard rack infrastructure is impractical. This unit combines network switching and power delivery in a 290g form factor, enabling rapid setup of multi-camera networks in fleet vehicles, mobile command units, trailers, and event coverage scenarios. Powered via 12V or 24V external supply, the VCS-8P2-MOB operates reliably across -10 to 50°C, making it suitable for outdoor mobile units and climate-controlled enclosures alike. The 10/100 Mbps Ethernet rate handles standard IP camera streams with minimal latency, while PoE+ (802.3at) delivery eliminates separate power cabling to each camera—critical when space and weight are constraints in mobile deployments.
Compatibility
The VCS-8P2-MOB integrates with any IP camera or PoE-powered network device that accepts standard 10/100 Ethernet and operates within the 3W PoE power budget per port. It works transparently in mixed camera environments (Axis, Hikvision, Hanwha, Bosch, and others) as a passive Layer 2 switch—no firmware or driver configuration required. Supports Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 cabling, so it plugs into existing temporary or permanent network runs without re-cabling. Eight RJ45 ports allow simultaneous power and data to up to 8 cameras in a single enclosure, or fewer cameras with longer cable runs if using lower-power PoE budgets.
Installation Notes
Mount the switch in equipment racks, aluminum enclosures, or directly inside vehicle cabins; its compact cable-form factor accepts standard DIN rail or bracket mounting. Connect 12V or 24V power supply to the dedicated input connector—verify supply amperage is sufficient for your total camera load (3W × number of active ports = total draw). Cable management is simplified by RJ45 connectors on all ports and a single power input; the 290g weight makes it portable without requiring reinforced vehicle mounts. Verify ambient temperature remains within the -10 to 50°C operating range to avoid shutdown or data loss in extreme conditions.
