Camden CM-89S Surface Mount Electric Strike
Overview
The Camden CM-89S is a heavy gauge stainless steel surface-mounted electric strike designed for standard-depth door frame installations. It provides direct mechanical control of door locking in access control systems where surface mounting is required — typical in retrofit scenarios, institutional facilities, and commercial environments where cutting into the door frame is not feasible or desired. The CM-89S integrates into wired access control architectures to release or hold maglocks and door strikes under command from a controller or credential reader.
Compatibility
The CM-89S is compatible with standard-depth door strike cavities and integrates with wired access control systems using 12/24V DC control signals. Verify that your door frame depth accommodates the strike body before ordering. Confirm voltage supply availability (12V or 24V DC) from your access control panel. The strike is designed for surface mounting on metal or wood door frames; surface preparation and frame geometry must be verified on-site.
Installation Notes
Mount using the supplied hardware on the lock side of the door frame. Heavy gauge construction means drilling and fastening into the door frame — ensure frame material can support lag bolts or equivalent fasteners without cracking. Standard electrical connection is two-conductor to the strike solenoid (polarity-dependent); run wiring in conduit where exposed to mechanical damage or moisture. Verify clearance between strike body and the door leaf when closed — improper positioning will prevent proper latch retraction. Test the strike through full open/close cycles after installation before commissioning the access control system.
