Proper rack grounding is a three-part system: bonding the rack frame to facility ground, bonding each vertical rail to the frame, and bonding each piece of installed equipment to the rails. The CNBK addresses that third requirement by replacing standard zinc-plated cage nuts with a grounding-optimized variant that maintains electrical continuity through the mounting hardware. High-carbon steel offers lower contact resistance than standard cage nut alloys, and the material's hardness prevents thread deformation under repeated installation cycles—critical in environments where equipment is frequently added, moved, or replaced.

Data center and telecom installations face distinct grounding challenges. Multi-vendor equipment often ships with non-conductive anodized mounting ears or powder-coated chassis that interrupt the ground path. Server and network gear with high-frequency switching power supplies can introduce common-mode noise that migrates onto signal conductors if chassis ground is inadequate.
