Overview

The Middle Atlantic RFB6B is a blank filler panel designed to cover unused rack unit openings in standard 19-inch equipment racks. Open bays create bypass airflow paths — hot exhaust recirculates to intake and accelerates thermal stress on active equipment. Installing the RFB6B blocks those gaps, keeping cooled air routed through equipment rather than short-circuiting around it. This is the correct choice for any rack enclosure with unoccupied 1U slots during initial build-out, phased equipment deployment, or post-decommission cleanups.

Compatibility

Fits standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack enclosures. Compatible with Middle Atlantic rack enclosures and cabinets including the ERK, BGR, and PD series frames, as well as any third-party 19-inch rack that adheres to EIA-310 rail spacing. Suitable for rack accessories and panel management installations in data closets, security equipment rooms, and AV/IT head-end racks. Not designed for vented airflow applications — use a vented blank where active cooling draw-through is required.

Installation Notes

Mounts to standard rack rails with two screws (rack screws not included — match to your rail type: M6, 10-32, or 12-24). No tools beyond a screwdriver required. Verify rail hole pattern before ordering if using non-standard third-party frames.
