Overview

The Middle Atlantic RFB2B is a blank filler panel designed to close unused rack unit openings in equipment enclosures. Open bays disrupt front-to-back airflow, allowing hot exhaust air to recirculate into equipment intakes — a thermal management problem that shortens component life in NVRs, network switches, and video management servers. Installing the RFB2B in any vacant 2U slot restores proper airflow channeling without permanently committing the space, since blank panels can be swapped out when new gear is added. It also keeps dust out of the rack interior and presents a clean, finished appearance in client-facing installations such as security operations centers and AV equipment rooms.

Compatibility

The RFB2B is compatible with standard 19-inch EIA rack enclosures and fits Middle Atlantic rack series including the ERK, RK, BGR, and WM families. It occupies 2 rack units (2U) of vertical space. Any 19-inch EIA-310-compliant rack from other manufacturers will also accept this panel — confirm your rack's rail spacing matches the standard 19-inch EIA specification before ordering. Do not use in non-standard or telco-format (23-inch) racks without verifying compatibility.

Installation Notes

Panel installs into the rack's front rails using the existing cage nut or pre-threaded mounting points — no specialized tools required beyond a standard screwdriver. Verify the rack's rail finish (cage nut vs. tapped) matches your available fasteners before installation. For proper airflow isolation, install blanks in all open bays; a single unblocked 1U gap can significantly undermine rack pressure management in high-density deployments.
