Overview
The K-1500P-W-ASH is a telephone-line-powered, no-dial-pad wall phone designed for locations where incoming calls need to be answered but outbound dialing must be restricted — security desks, stairwells, entry vestibules, and controlled-access corridors. The unit draws power directly from the telephone line (20V DC / 18mA minimum), eliminating the need for a local power run. The ash color finish suits environments where the standard stainless look of the K-1500P-W would stand out against lighter wall finishes. Built from 14-gauge 304 stainless steel with a #4 brushed finish, the enclosure is engineered to take abuse without deforming or disabling the hookswitch — critical in unsupervised public areas. The amplified handset includes volume control and is hearing aid compatible, which matters for ADA-conscious deployments in lobbies or public-use facilities. Internal ringer with volume adjustment means occupants can hear an incoming call in noisy mechanical rooms or loading areas without a separate alerting device. Flush-mounts to a standard double-gang electrical box, keeping the installation clean and the profile low.
Compatibility
The K-1500P-W-ASH is a standalone POTS telephone station. It connects to any analog telephone line or analog port on a PBX or key system that delivers standard tip-and-ring signaling at a minimum of 20V DC / 18mA loop current. Compatible with analog FXS ports on VoIP gateways (Grandstream, Cisco, Patton) provided the port maintains adequate loop current at the station. Not compatible with digital telephone systems that do not provide an analog interface. For the same unit in standard stainless, specify model K-1500P-W. For environments requiring outbound dialing capability, a different model in the Viking Electronics telephone product line should be selected.
Installation Notes
Mounts flush to a standard double-gang electrical box — verify box depth accommodates the 2.75-inch unit depth before rough-in. Wiring connects via tip and ring to the analog line; no additional power wiring required provided loop current meets the 20V DC / 18mA minimum. Operating temperature range is 32°F to 90°F with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity — suitable for interior conditioned spaces but not outdoor or unheated enclosures. The handset cable runs 4.0 inches wide by 4.75 inches tall by 9.0 inches deep per datasheet dimensions; allow clearance above and below the box for handset hang length. For access control and entry-phone applications requiring outdoor exposure, evaluate Viking's weatherized station variants instead.
