Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP9877 C19 to C20 Rack Power Cord

Overview

The AP9877 is a 6.5-foot (1.98m) IEC-320 C19 to C20 power cord designed for rack power distribution in data centers and IT closets. It solves the specific wiring problem of connecting a C19-inlet device — typically a high-density PDU, UPS output bank, or server with a C19 inlet — to a C20 outlet on a rack PDU or in-row power source. At 6.5 feet, the AP9877 provides enough reach to route cleanly within a standard 42U or 45U rack without excess slack bunching in the cable management channels. The black jacket blends with standard rack environments and simplifies cable identification when color-coding by circuit.

Compatibility

The C19/C20 connector pair is rated for loads up to 16A (international) or 20A (North American circuits), making this cord appropriate for high-draw devices that exceed the capacity of standard C13/C14 cords. Compatible device pairings include:

  • APC Smart-UPS and Symmetra series units with C20 output receptacles supplying downstream rack PDUs with C19 inlets.
  • APC Rack PDUs (AP78xx, AP79xx, AP88xx series) that present C20 outlets for daisy-chain or branch-circuit distribution.
  • High-draw servers, storage arrays, and networking gear with IEC C19 power inlets — common on dual-PSU 2U and 4U servers pulling 1,000W or more per supply.
  • Any IEC-320 C20-outlet power source feeding C19-inlet equipment regardless of manufacturer — the IEC connector standard is universal.

Installation Notes

Verify the circuit breaker rating on the source PDU or UPS output bank before deploying — C19/C20 cords are often used on 20A branch circuits, and mixing 15A and 20A segments on the same circuit without correct breaker sizing creates a protection gap. Route the cord through vertical or horizontal cable managers to avoid stress on the IEC connectors; the molded strain relief on both ends handles normal bend radius but should not be used as a tie-down point. The 2-year repair or replace warranty covers manufacturing defects in the cord and connectors.
