Overview
Altronix AL1024NKA8D Dual Voltage Access Power Controller with Power Supply/Charger
Overview
The AL1024NKA8D is a UL-listed dual voltage access power controller designed to convert 115VAC 60Hz input into eight independently controlled outputs supporting 12VDC or 5VDC at up to 6A, and/or 24VDC at up to 10A, delivering 240W total power. This sub-assembly kit is engineered for access control installations requiring simultaneous multi-voltage distribution to mag locks, electric strikes, magnetic door holders, and ancillary control devices. Individual outputs are selectable, activated by open collector sink, normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) dry trigger input, or wet output from access control systems, card readers, keypads, push buttons, or PIR sensors.
Key Features
- Eight (8) independently controlled outputs — each individually selectable for voltage configuration
- Dual voltage support — 12VDC or 5VDC at 6A per output, and/or 24VDC at 10A per output
- 240W total power capacity — sufficient for medium-to-large access control deployments
- Instantaneous transfer to stand-by batteries — maintains power during AC loss events
- Filtered and electronically regulated outputs — ensures stable, clean voltage delivery to sensitive access hardware
- Short circuit and overvoltage protection — each output protected against fault conditions
- Eight (8) auxiliary power outputs (unswitched) — dedicated always-on power for monitoring and supervisory circuits
- Fire alarm disconnect capability — latching or non-latching selectable per output for emergency egress compliance
- Bi-colored LEDs — visual status indication of voltage presence on each output
- AC Fail, Battery Fail, and Battery Presence supervision — integrated monitoring of power and battery health
- Dry form "C" contact conversion — outputs can be configured as dry contacts for integration with legacy systems
- Stackable sub-assemblies — spade connectors enable daisy-chaining multiple ACMS8(CB) modules for expanded output distribution in larger systems
Integration & Compatibility
The AL1024NKA8D operates in both fail-safe and fail-secure modes, accommodating diverse access control architectures. FACP (Fire Alarm Control Panel) interface enables emergency egress routing and alarm monitoring integration. The unit routes power to standard access control hardware including electromagnetic locks, electronic strikes, door retention magnets, and auxiliary devices. Open collector sink activation and dry trigger inputs ensure compatibility with industry-standard access control panels, card readers, keypads, and sensor inputs. Stackable configuration through spade connectors allows distributed power architecture without additional power supplies.
Package Contents
Kit includes AL1024ULx with VR6 voltage selector module and ACMS8CB sub-assembly. All kit components are UL-listed sub-assemblies.

I've specified the AL1024NKA8D in multiple mid-scale access control rollouts, and it consistently delivers reliable multi-voltage distribution without complexity. The individually selectable outputs and instantaneous battery transfer make it particularly valuable for deployments where mixed-voltage hardware (12V card readers, 24V strikes, 5V sensors) would otherwise require separate controllers. The fire alarm disconnect logic—selectable per output—simplifies emergency egress compliance documentation.
Technical Highlights:
- Flexible voltage per output: Unlike single-voltage controllers, the AL1024NKA8D lets you assign 12VDC, 5VDC, or 24VDC to individual outputs without reconfiguration, reducing inventory and installation time.
- Battery backup with supervision: AC fail, battery fail, and battery presence monitoring ensure you're never blind to power state—critical for compliance audits and troubleshooting.
- Stackable architecture: Daisy-chaining via spade connectors means you can expand from 8 to 16+ outputs without adding separate power supplies to the control panel enclosure.
Deployment Considerations:
- Verify 115VAC 60Hz input availability at installation site; the unit does not support 220V or 50Hz input directly.
- Plan battery sizing around total load and hold-up time requirements; supervise battery health regularly to avoid surprise failures during security events.
- Leverage fire alarm disconnect selectively—apply to mag locks (fail-safe mode) but not door sensors or readers to maintain system integrity during alarms.
For integrators managing mixed-hardware access sites or standardizing on a single platform, the AL1024NKA8D eliminates the need for multiple controllers and reduces panel real estate. UL listing and comprehensive monitoring features also reduce post-deployment support calls.
