Description

Aiphone NI-SB Ceiling Mount Microphone

Overview

The Aiphone NI-SB is a ceiling-mounted microphone designed as a sub-station transmitter for hands-free communication in intercom installations. Constructed of stainless steel, it mounts flush into ceiling cavities for discreet audio pickup in offices, meeting rooms, and institutional facilities. The NI-SB provides transmit-only functionality—meaning audio goes one direction from the ceiling mic to the master station—and pairs with compatible Aiphone master units and speakers to complete a two-way intercom loop. This is the right choice when you need mic pickup at the ceiling rather than wall-mounted or desk-based alternatives.

Compatibility

The NI-SB operates as a sub-station microphone exclusively with NIM master stations: the NIM-20B and NIM-40B. It pairs with the NI-LB ceiling speaker to provide complete two-way audio capability (mic transmit + speaker receive). The microphone requires a separate 48V DC power supply (IS-PU-UL, sold separately) to operate. Indoor use only—not rated for outdoor, wet, or high-moisture environments.

Installation Notes

Ceiling flush-mount installation requires access to a ceiling cavity that can accommodate the stainless steel housing. Connection to the 48V DC power supply must be routed through the ceiling infrastructure before finishing. No specific torque, tool, or environmental tolerance data appears in the available documentation—consult the master station installation guide and power supply specs for detailed wiring and grounding requirements.
