Speco Technologies AP4 Access Control Software Upgrade License
Overview
The AP4 is a software upgrade license that converts a Speco Advantage access control system (1–4 doors) to Professional-level capabilities. This is a licensing upgrade only — it unlocks feature tiers in the existing Advantage platform without requiring hardware replacement or system reinstallation. Deploy this when you need mobile app access, custom reporting, floor plan visualization, or increased card and user capacity beyond Advantage's base limits.
What the Upgrade Adds
Advantage base supports 4 readers (in/out), 1,000 users, and 8,000 access cards; AP4 Professional lifts those ceilings to 4 readers (in/out), 5,000 users, and 32,000 access cards. Mobile app (iOS/Android, cloud and P2P modes) becomes available. Floor plans with active icons and door/auxiliary action buttons unlock. Alarm acknowledgement, custom report generation, and elevator integration come online. Event transaction storage scales from 15,000 to 30,000 records. User-defined fields expand from 5 to 10. Access levels, schedules, and access groups grow from 25/25/10 to 512/250/32 — a material increase for multi-tenant or complex shift-based operations.
Compatibility
The AP4 upgrade license applies exclusively to Speco Advantage access control systems configured for 1–4 door controllers. It does not work with Advantage systems already licensed to Professional or Professional Plus, and it cannot extend to 5-door or larger deployments (those require AP36 for 5–36 doors or APP36 for 37–128 doors). Verify your current Advantage system configuration before purchase — upgrading mid-deployment requires no downtime but does require active Advantage software installation and valid system credentials.
Installation Notes
No hardware installation required. Apply the AP4 license key to the Advantage system console — the upgrade is instantaneous and does not interrupt active door control or credential processing. Backup your Advantage database before applying any software license upgrade as a precaution.
