Description

Comnet CWGE9MS 9-Port Gigabit Managed Switch

Overview

The Comnet CWGE9MS is a 9-port managed switch designed for surveillance and commercial network deployments where you need a mix of copper and fiber connectivity on a single chassis. Seven 10/100/1000BASE-TX ports handle standard Ethernet camera and recorder connections, while two combo gigabit SFP slots accept either copper or optical fiber transceivers — critical when you're running long-distance backbone links to remote camera arrays or bridging isolated security zones without dedicated fiber infrastructure.

The CWGE9MS ships with an internal 100–240VAC power supply, so it integrates directly into standard equipment racks without external power bricks. Managed switching (vs. unmanaged) means you can configure VLANs to isolate camera traffic from administrative networks, apply port-level QoS to prioritize live-view streams over backups, and monitor link health — essential in multi-building campuses or carrier-class installations.

Compatibility

The CWGE9MS works with any surveillance camera, NVR, or edge device that supports 10/100/1000 Ethernet or SFP optical connectivity. Compatible with IP cameras from Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, and other mainstream brands that output standard ONVIF or proprietary streams. Pairs naturally with network video recorders requiring multi-port gigabit backbone aggregation, and with other managed switches when building tiered network architectures across multiple floors or zones.

The two SFP combo ports accept either short-range copper SFP modules (for cost-effective 100m runs) or long-haul single-mode or multimode fiber optics, depending on your distance and budget — no port-type lock-in.

Installation Notes

Standard 19-inch rack mounting. Operating temperature range 0°C to +50°C; verify ambient ventilation if the switch sits in an uninsulated or unheated vault. RJ-45 connections are standard wiring; ensure CAT6 minimum for full gigabit performance on copper runs over 50 meters. Configure management IP address (via serial console or DHCP relay) to assign VLANs and QoS policies before deployment. IEEE 802.3 compliance ensures compatibility with PoE-injected camera power and standard switching infrastructure.
