Description

ATEN CL5808NCKIT 8-Port LCD KVM Switch

Overview

The ATEN CL5808NCKIT is a dual-rail, 19-inch rackmount LCD KVM console designed to consolidate control of up to 8 computers. This unit integrates a 1280x1024 resolution LED-backlit LCD monitor, a full keyboard, and a touchpad mouse into a single sliding housing. Its primary function is to reduce rack space and cabling complexity in server rooms or data centers by providing a single point of access for multiple systems. The dual-rail design allows the monitor and keyboard modules to slide independently, enabling flexible deployment within the rack. This model is TAA Compliant, meeting requirements for government and certain enterprise procurements.

Compatibility

This KVM switch supports 8 computers via PS/2 or USB connectivity. It is compatible with a wide range of servers and workstations that offer standard PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse ports, and a VGA video output. The integrated console can manage systems running various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS, without requiring specific software drivers on the connected computers. The CL5808NCKIT also supports daisy-chaining up to 3 additional units, expanding control to a maximum of 32 computers from a single console, provided the daisy-chained units are compatible ATEN KVM switches.

Installation Notes

The CL5808NCKIT is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting, requiring 1U of vertical space in the rack. The dual-rail housing allows for the keyboard and LCD modules to be positioned independently. The unit supports VGA video connections and utilizes either PS/2 or USB for keyboard and mouse input from the connected computers. Included are 8 PS/2-USB KVM cables, each designed to connect one computer to the KVM switch. Ensure adequate clearance for the sliding mechanism when installing in a densely populated rack. The total weight of the unit is 55 lbs.
