Description

Comnet CTS8EOCPOE 8-Channel BNC PoE Extender Module

Overview

The CTS8EOCPOE is an 8-channel video extender module that converts analog composite video (BNC) signals into Ethernet format and delivers power over the same copper run. This solves the distance and infrastructure problem: older analog systems often run out of power or signal quality beyond 300–500 feet from the recorder. The CTS8EOCPOE extends viable analog camera reach to 3000 feet on a single pair of twisted copper — standard Cat5/Cat6 cabling — while injecting PoE power into each channel. Fit this module into retrofit scenarios where re-cabling analog surveillance systems to fiber or IP is not cost-justified, or where you need to pull analog feeds from legacy dome housings across a warehouse or perimeter.

Compatibility

The CTS8EOCPOE works with any analog CCTV camera or video source outputting composite BNC signal (NTSC or PAL). Common scenarios include: legacy Pelco dome turrets, analog license-plate readers, analog PTZ units, and analog line-scan cameras on machinery or conveyors. The receiver side accepts 8 independent analog inputs and outputs composite video over Ethernet to a standard NVR, DVR, or analog-to-IP converter. Verify your recording system supports 8 parallel analog inputs or has 8 independent analog-in ports. The module does not transcode video — it preserves the analog signal integrity over distance, so downstream processing (motion detection, analytics) occurs on the NVR or converter, not on the extender itself.

Installation Notes

Power the CTS8EOCPOE via standard 802.3af or 802.3at PoE from a managed or unmanaged PoE switch. Each channel draws modest current; verify your switch has sufficient PoE budget for 8 channels (typically 10–15W total per module). Route BNC camera feeds to the 8 BNC input ports on the module. Terminate the Ethernet output into a standard RJ-45 jack and run Cat5/Cat6 copper to the remote receiver location. Maximum distance is 3000 feet of unsupported span; for longer runs or noisy industrial environments, use shielded twisted pair. The module is passive once powered — no software, no IP address assignment, no configuration required.
