Overview

The Middle Atlantic APV-6 is a 6U slotted ventilation panel designed for rack accessories installations where passive airflow management is needed without dedicating a full blanking plate to dead air. At 17% open area across a standard 19-inch form factor, it moves enough ambient air to reduce heat buildup in lightly populated rack sections — useful when equipment spacing leaves multiple empty RUs between active gear. The APV-6 ships in a hinged configuration, so you can swing the panel open without removing it from the rack rails, which matters during cable dressing or when you need occasional access to rear-of-rack wiring without pulling hardware. Depth is only 1.4 inches, so it won't intrude on shallow rack environments. Finished in black powder coat for a clean, uniform appearance in standard EIA-310 Middle Atlantic racks and enclosures.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 two-post or four-post rack that accepts rack-unit panels with two mounting points. The 6RU height (10.5 inches) and 19-inch panel width are industry-standard dimensions, making the APV-6 a direct fit in Middle Atlantic ERK, PD, and WRK series enclosures, as well as any third-party rack accepting standard 19-inch hardware. If you are managing airflow across a network switch installation or a mixed AV/security rack, the hinged design allows panel access without disrupting adjacent 1U equipment. Not a light-blocking panel — if you need to isolate indicator LEDs or reduce light bleed inside a closed rack, specify a solid blanking panel instead.

Installation Notes

Mounts via 2 rack-unit mounting points — standard #10-32 or M6 cage nuts depending on your rack rail specification. Depth of 1.4 inches clears most rear cable managers. Hinged style requires clearance at the front of the rack for the panel to swing open; verify at least 2–3 inches of free space in front of the rack face before installing in a tight enclosure. No tools beyond a standard screwdriver required for installation.
