ACTi B912 5MP Outdoor Mini PTZ Camera
Overview
The B912 is a compact 5MP pan-tilt-zoom camera designed for outdoor perimeter and wide-area surveillance where you need optical magnification without deploying multiple fixed units. The 10x optical zoom (4.7–47mm lens) lets operators frame subjects across large coverage zones—parking lots, loading docks, facility perimeters—while WDR 120dB handles mixed lighting (sun-blasted entry, shadowed corners) without loss of usable detail. The B912 solves the installation challenge of outdoor PTZ mounting: it weighs just 1.49 kg, supports wall, pole, pendant, corner, and rack mounts, and draws PoE+ power over a single RJ-45 run, eliminating dedicated 12V power infrastructure on the building.
Compatibility
The B912 integrates with any ONVIF Profile S/G/T/M–compliant VMS platform—Milestone, Genetec, Axis Camera Station, and vendor-neutral systems. PTZ control works via Visca, Pelco-D, Pelco-P, and ACTi URL command protocols, enabling remote preset tours, auto-scan, and 10-position pan/tilt memory. Audio input (2-way mic-in, line-in, line-out) pairs with systems supporting two-way intercom or ambient sound logging. H.265, H.264, and MJPEG compression ensures bitstream compatibility across legacy and modern NVR architectures—H.265 cuts bandwidth roughly 40–50% versus H.264 for equivalent quality, a real factor on bandwidth-constrained outdoor links.
Installation Notes
Operating temperature range –40°C to +60°C; verify outdoor ambient does not exceed limits before mounting. IP67 rating handles direct rain and dust; IK10 vandal resistance means mounting near pedestrian or vehicle traffic is feasible. PoE+ (802.3at Class 3) draws up to approximately 13W typical—confirm your switch has sufficient power budget per port. Board-mount lens ships with the unit; align carefully during installation to avoid cross-threading. The included 2m RJ-45 cable bridges camera to nearest PoE+ switch port; if run exceeds 100m, use active (powered) extenders or fiber converters.
