Speco Technologies HLPR1G 2MP HD-TVI License Plate Capture Camera
Overview
The HLPR1G is a 2MP HD-TVI camera purpose-built for license plate capture and recognition at distance. Deploy this where you need dedicated plate-grade evidence — parking lots, gate entry points, lot egress, or perimeter monitoring requiring optical resolution above standard surveillance cameras. The HD-TVI signal chain avoids the latency and complexity of IP encoding, making it suitable for analog-first or hybrid TVI infrastructure already in place.
Compatibility
The HLPR1G uses HD-TVI (also called HDCVI or TVI) video output, requiring a compatible TVI DVR or TVI-to-IP converter. Confirm your recording backend supports HD-TVI input — most recent Speco TVI recorders and standalone TVI-capable NVRs accept this signal. If your site runs pure IP, you will need a TVI-to-IP encoder bridge. Legacy analog BNC infrastructure can be repurposed with minimal rewiring.
Installation Notes
Mount the HLPR1G on a pole, wall, or gantry at an angle that frames vehicle approach lanes head-on or at shallow oblique angles — this maximizes plate legibility. Position at 8–12 feet height for typical passenger vehicles; adjust upward for truck-heavy facilities. Verify cabling run to TVI recorder does not exceed coaxial specification limits for your particular backbone (typically 200–400m depending on cable grade and signal integrity). Use shielded RG-6 or equivalent; run power separately from video if possible to minimize EMI noise that degrades plate detail.
