Description

Middle Atlantic UMS1-5.5 1RU Universal Rack Shelf, 5.5-Inch Deep

Overview

The Middle Atlantic UMS1-5.5 is a single-rack-unit open shelf designed for mounting lightweight gear — NVRs, media converters, small UPS units, and similar equipment — inside standard 19-inch EIA racks. At 5.5 inches deep and a 25 lb weight capacity, it handles compact appliances without eating into adjacent rack space. The UMS1-5.5 mounts on two points and installs in any standard 19-inch rack rail configuration, making it a practical solution when equipment lacks its own rackmount ears or when you need a flat resting surface in a security or AV enclosure.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-compliant rack or rack enclosure — including Middle Atlantic's own rack families (ERK, PD, and open-frame series) as well as third-party 19-inch two-post and four-post racks. At 1 RU (1.75 inches tall) and 5.5 inches deep, this shelf is suited for shallow appliances: small form-factor NVRs, PoE injectors, network switches under 5 inches deep, and similar network infrastructure or video recorder hardware. Not appropriate for deep equipment — devices exceeding 5 inches in depth require a longer shelf variant from the Middle Atlantic rack accessory line. Weight limit of 25 lbs covers the majority of compact surveillance appliances in this form factor.

Installation Notes

Mounts via two rack-rail attachment points on a standard 19-inch rail set. Black powder-coat finish. Verify rail spacing matches standard EIA 19-inch before ordering — this shelf is not adjustable in width. For heavier equipment or deeper chassis, review the full rack shelf category for extended-depth or reinforced options.
