Description

Allied Telesis AT-SP10TW1 1M SFP+ Twinax Direct-Attach Cable

Overview

The AT-SP10TW1 is a 1-meter passive Twinax direct-attach cable (DAC) with SFP+ connectors on each end, designed for short-reach 10GbE connections between Allied Telesis switches and servers or storage devices within the same rack or adjacent rack bays. Direct-attach copper eliminates the cost and latency of discrete SFP+ optical transceivers plus fiber — the right call when your link is under a meter and every millisecond and dollar in the network switch budget counts. The AT-SP10TW1 plugs directly into any standard SFP+ cage, making it a practical choice for 10G DAC and transceiver deployments where top-of-rack cabling is dense and routing flexibility matters.

Compatibility

Designed for use with Allied Telesis SFP+ ports across the AT-x930, AT-x950, AT-x510, AT-x310S, and AT-SBx908 GEN2 switch families, as well as Allied Telesis stackable and modular chassis platforms equipped with 10G SFP+ uplink slots. The passive DAC format also functions in any standards-compliant SFP+ host — server NICs, HBAs, or third-party switches — provided the host's firmware does not enforce vendor-locked transceiver authentication. Verify your specific switch model's compatibility list before ordering if deploying in a mixed-vendor environment; Allied Telesis switches accept the AT-SP10TW1 natively without workarounds. For distances beyond 1 meter within the same row, consider the longer DAC variants in the AT-SP10TW series or step up to an active optical cable or SFP+ optical transceiver paired with LC fiber.

Installation Notes

Passive Twinax DAC — no firmware, no configuration, no separate power draw beyond what the SFP+ host cage supplies. Seat both ends firmly until the latch clicks; a partial insertion is the most common source of link-down faults on DAC cables. The 1-meter length suits same-rack top-of-rack to server connections; plan your cable management before ordering, as the fixed copper assembly is not field-reterminated. Store coiled loosely — sharp bends near the SFP+ boot can stress the connector shell.
