Overview
The SM5220-1M is a 1-meter passive SFP+ direct attach cable (DAC) designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections over short distances. At 1 meter, this cable eliminates transceiver costs and latency overhead on top-of-rack, same-cabinet, or cross-adjacent-cabinet runs in data centers, network closets, and warehouse automation infrastructure. The dual SFP+ connectors are identical, allowing flexible port assignment between switches, servers, or storage arrays without additional active electronics.
Compatibility
The SM5220-1M connects directly to any standard SFP+ port hardware. Confirmed compatibility includes TP-Link Omada managed switches and other SFP+-equipped network infrastructure. Verify SFP+ port availability on your target switch, network appliance, or storage array before purchase. If your equipment uses QSFP+ or older SFP (1G) connectors, this cable will not fit — confirm the port type on your device datasheet.
Installation Notes
Insert connectors firmly into SFP+ ports until they seat with an audible click. The passive copper design carries no special power or configuration requirements. Avoid sharp bends or stress at the connector strain relief. Route the cable away from high-temperature equipment (keep at least 6 inches from heat sources) and do not coil tightly during installation or storage — tight coils can degrade signal integrity on 10G runs. For warehouse or industrial settings, keep runs as straight as practicable to minimize signal reflections. No tools are required for installation beyond standard network equipment access.
