Overview

The Middle Atlantic CFR-16-16 is a 16-rack-unit in-cabinet frame rack sized for shallow equipment bays where full-depth rails aren't practical. At 16 inches of usable depth with a 28.94-inch overall height, the CFR-16-16 fits inside existing cabinetry or custom millwork enclosures — a common requirement in corporate AV, security head-end closets, and wall-recessed equipment niches. The frame is steel with a flat black powder coat finish and mounts on standard 10-32 threaded rack rails, so any rack-mount equipment using 10-32 hardware drops straight in without adapter strips. UL-listed load capacity is 250 lbs (113.4 kg), which comfortably handles a fully populated 16U bay of NVRs, PoE switches, and patch panels without deflection concern. TAA-compliant and manufactured in the USA, making it eligible for federal and government procurement. The product weight is 21.2 lbs; plan for a shipping weight of 26.7 lbs when ordering.

Compatibility

Designed to integrate with Middle Atlantic cabinet and enclosure systems where a standard in-cabinet frame is specified. The 19.25-inch width aligns with EIA-310 19-inch rack standards, accepting any compliant 1U–16U equipment — including NVRs, PoE network switches, UPS units, patch panels, and fiber management trays. The 10-32 threaded rail type is the most common rack fastener standard in North American AV and security installations; cage nuts are not required. Usable height is 28 inches (71.1 cm) across all 16 rack units. If your enclosure requires deeper equipment clearance beyond 16 inches, step up to a deeper CFR variant in the same family. For shallow-mount scenarios under 12 RU, a smaller CFR frame size will better match the cabinet footprint.

Installation Notes

Overall height of 28.94 inches must clear within the host cabinet's internal vertical opening — measure the cabinet's usable interior height before ordering. The 16-inch usable depth is the equipment clearance dimension; allow additional rear clearance for cable management and airflow behind installed gear. Flat black powder coat finish is standard; if the host cabinet uses a different finish, note the potential mismatch in visible installations. Mount using the cabinet's integral mounting provisions per Middle Atlantic's enclosure instructions; the CFR frame itself does not include wall or floor anchoring hardware.
