Description

QNAP QXP-16G2FC Dual-Port 16Gb Fibre Channel Expansion Card

Overview

The QXP-16G2FC is a low-profile PCIe expansion card that adds dual-port 16Gb Enhanced Gen 5 Fibre Channel connectivity to compatible QNAP NAS systems. If your storage environment runs an existing FC SAN fabric — typical in enterprise data centers, broadcast post-production, or high-throughput surveillance archive tiers — this card bridges QNAP NAS into that fabric without adding a separate FC-to-iSCSI gateway. Each port delivers up to 14.025 Gb/s and auto-negotiates down to 8 or 4 Gb/s, so the QXP-16G2FC integrates into legacy FC infrastructure without requiring a full fabric upgrade. SFP+ transceivers are included, which matters when you're building out NAS storage capacity and don't want to source optics separately.

Compatibility

Designed for QNAP NAS models with a PCIe expansion slot that accepts low-profile cards — primarily the TVS, TS, and TES series that carry a full-height or low-profile PCIe slot. Verify your chassis's PCIe slot count, lane width, and bracket clearance before ordering; the card's 10.68 × 6 cm footprint is low-profile. It is not compatible with QNAP systems that lack PCIe expansion (desktop entry-level or ARM-based units). For environments pairing this card with a network video recorder workflow or tiered storage over FC, confirm the host NAS supports the QXP-16G2FC in QNAP's official compatibility list. Works with standard FC SAN switches and directors operating at 4, 8, or 16 Gb/s.

Installation Notes

Operating temperature range is 0°C to 45°C — standard for enclosed rack NAS environments but worth verifying in dense rack deployments with marginal airflow. Install into a powered-down NAS; the card draws power from the PCIe slot directly with no auxiliary connector required. SFP+ transceivers ship included. Storage temperature tolerance extends to -20°C to 60°C, so cold-warehouse staging is not a concern. A 3-year manufacturer warranty applies. For Fibre Channel storage planning and compatible switch selection, confirm lane negotiation settings in QNAP's QSM storage manager post-install.
