• H.264 Multi-Profile + MJPEG Fallback: Baseline, Main, and High profiles allow tuning for bitrate vs. quality. PoE+ Class 3 (~13W) is tight; H.264 High profile at 12MP will push 40+ Mbps. Use Baseline or Main for 24/7 recording; reserve High for event recordings. MJPEG fallback is a lifeline on older VMS or if H.264 licensing is restricted.

• ONVIF Profile S + Future Multi-Profile Upgrade: Ship with Profile S; future firmware adds G, T, Q, M. Deployment Considerations:

• Fisheye Distortion & Zoom Limits: The 198.5° panoramic view introduces barrel distortion—straight lines curve, and faces near the periphery appear warped. If your security brief includes facial recognition or license-plate detail capture, this is not the camera. Hemispheric domes are for occupancy, heatmapping, and gross motion alerts, not forensic identification. Know that upfront.
• Interior-Only Installation: −10°C to 50°C operating range and lack of weatherproofing means no outdoor, semi-outdoor, or unheated storage mounting. Mounting accessories (wall, pole, pendant, corner, rack) assume clean, climate-controlled environments. If your facility includes covered loading docks or semi-sheltered entry vestibules with temperature swings, test thermal cycling before deployment.
• Full-Resolution Recording is Expensive: 4072×3046 @ 18 fps in H.264 Main Profile requires ~30–35 Mbps. Over 24/7 for 30 days, that's roughly 7.8 TB per camera. Most retail deployments cut this by recording full resolution only on motion events, then falling back to 1080p baseline. Implement a tiered retention policy: 30 days 1080p baseline, 7 days 12MP events.
• NVR Sub-Stream Support Critical: Ensure your NVR supports multi-stream recording from the B511A (e.g., main stream at 4000×3000, sub-stream at 1920×1080). Some older or entry-level NVRs do not; if so, you're locked into a single stream and forced to choose between full resolution or frame rate. Verify ONVIF multi-stream support before finalizing the VMS.
• Audio Input Requires Cabling: The B511A has mic-in, line-in, and line-out connectors; the built-in microphone adds ambient sound without extra hardware. If you want high-quality audio (e.g., two-way intercom), route balanced line-in audio through dedicated conduit or leverage existing intercom infrastructure. Don't expect the on-camera mic to capture speech clarity in noisy retail floors.
• GPS Tagging for Multi-Site Deployments: Manual GPS position setting is useful if you're running the camera in a location-aware VMS (Genetec integrates GPS coords into search/export); however, it's not auto-provisioned. Ensure your VMS supports GPS metadata in ONVIF events before relying on location-based workflows.
