Overview

The CNFE1005S2 is a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-to-optical media converter designed to extend surveillance camera and edge device connectivity beyond standard copper cabling limits. This unit converts electrical RJ45 Ethernet to 100 Mbps optical fiber, using either ST or SC connectors in single or dual-fiber configurations. Deployment use case: long cable runs in industrial facilities, multi-building campuses, or electrically noisy environments where fiber immunity and distance (3 km multimode or 20 km singlemode) outweigh the cost of converters. Plug-and-play operation — no field optical adjustments, no manual configuration.

Compatibility

Works with any standard 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet device: IP cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, and industrial edge appliances. The CNFE1005S2 auto-negotiates 10 or 100 Mbps, full or half duplex on the electrical side and locks to 100 Mbps full duplex on the fiber side. Transparent to all standard Ethernet frame types and protocols — compatible with TCP/IP, RTSP, ONVIF, and proprietary VMS streams. Requires matching media converter or SFP module on the far end of the fiber run.

Installation Notes

Operating temperature range of −40°C to +75°C allows deployment in unheated utility closets, outdoor equipment shelters, and temperature-cycling warehouse environments. Power requirement is 8–24 VDC or 22–27 VAC; the included DC plug-in supply handles standard rack or bench deployments. Unit draws 3W — negligible load on typical facility power. Standard size is hot-swappable and rack-mountable; small form factor available for space-constrained installations. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal inputs guards against surge damage in industrial settings. NEMA TS-1/TS-2 certified for mechanical shock, vibration, humidity with condensation, and high-line/low-line voltage conditions.
