Overview

The Signamax 065-1176BLFS is a crucial component for extending network infrastructure beyond the typical 100-meter Ethernet limit. This media converter bridges the gap between copper 10/100Base-TX Ethernet and 100Base-FX fiber optic links, utilizing Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) to transmit and receive data over a single strand of single-mode fiber. It's designed for scenarios where you need to connect network devices, such as IP cameras or network switches, across significant distances, making it ideal for large facilities, campus environments, or connecting remote surveillance equipment.

Compatibility

This converter is designed to interface with standard 10/100Base-TX Ethernet ports found on most network switches, IP cameras, and other network appliances. The fiber optic side uses an SC connector and is compatible with single-mode fiber optic cable. For full duplex communication, it requires a paired WDM converter on the other end of the fiber link. The Tx port operates at 1550 nm, and the Rx port operates at 1310 nm, meaning the receiving unit must have its Tx at 1310 nm and Rx at 1550 nm.

Installation Notes

This unit supports transmission distances up to 20 kilometers (approximately 12.4 miles) over single-mode fiber. Ensure the fiber optic cable is clean and free from damage before connecting. Proper polarity between the Tx and Rx ports on paired devices is critical for establishing a link. The device requires an external power supply (sold separately) to operate.
