Description

Allied Telesis AT-MMC6006-60 Gigabit to BNC VDSL2 Mini Media and Rate Converter

Overview

The AT-MMC6006-60 is a compact media and rate converter that bridges 10/100/1000T Ethernet to a BNC-terminated VDSL2 connection, allowing existing coaxial cable plant to carry IP network traffic without pulling new Cat5e or fiber. This is the device to reach for when a surveillance or access control deployment needs to extend network connectivity to a remote node — a PTZ camera, door controller, or edge switch — using coax runs that are already in conduit or embedded in walls. The AT-MMC6006-60 handles the media and rate conversion in a single compact unit, eliminating the need for a separate media converter and rate adapter.

Compatibility

The AT-MMC6006-60 is designed for use within the Allied Telesis mini media converter ecosystem. It is intended to pair with a compatible AT-MMC series chassis or standalone counterpart unit at the far end of the coax run — VDSL2 links require a converter at both ends. Verify that your existing coaxial infrastructure uses BNC termination; F-type or bare-coax installations require appropriate barrel adapters not included with this unit. On the Ethernet side, the 10/100/1000T RJ-45 port connects directly to any PoE or managed network switch with an available copper port, making integration into standard IP surveillance and access control network architectures straightforward.

Installation Notes

VDSL2 over coax is distance-sensitive — throughput scales down as coax run length increases, so verify the supported distance profile for your specific cable gauge and run length before committing. Both ends of the coax link must terminate in compatible AT-MMC6006-60 units or a matching chassis card; mismatched endpoints will not link. Mount in a low-vibration location with adequate ventilation; the compact form factor fits in most enclosures used in NVR and head-end equipment rack builds. Confirm power source compatibility before installation — check Allied Telesis documentation for input voltage requirements specific to this unit.
