Description

Middle Atlantic 818TCAL 1-Gang Aluminum Carpet & Tile Floor Flange

Overview

The Middle Atlantic 818TCAL is a one-gang aluminum flange designed for carpet and tile floor installations where a floor box must sit flush with finished flooring. At 0.75 in (1.9 cm) tall, the 818TCAL presents a low-profile transition between the floor box opening and the finished surface — eliminating the gap and trip hazard that an unfinished box edge leaves behind. This is the component that gives a concrete floor box installation a professional, code-ready finish in conference rooms, open-plan offices, and commercial AV or security infrastructure deployments. The aluminum construction handles the wear of foot traffic and rolling equipment better than plastic flanges in comparable applications.

Compatibility

The 818TCAL is engineered for use with Middle Atlantic's OmniBox one-gang rectangular concrete floor box series. It is specifically suited to installations finished with carpet or tile where a flush, low-rise perimeter seal is required. Verify your floor box model against Middle Atlantic's OmniBox compatibility matrix before ordering — the one-gang rectangular form factor (5 in × 6 in footprint) is the qualifying parameter. This flange is not intended for two-gang or round floor box configurations. TAA compliance is not applicable to this SKU, so verify procurement requirements independently if your project carries TAA obligations.

Installation Notes

The 818TCAL seats over the installed floor box after the finished flooring material (carpet or tile) is laid. The 0.75 in profile accommodates standard carpet and tile stack heights — confirm your finished-floor depth does not exceed this clearance before specifying. The 5 in × 6 in footprint determines the rough opening size; size the floor box cutout to match prior to flooring installation. Aluminum material allows field trimming if required for non-standard tile grout layouts, though verify this against your finish contractor's requirements. No special tooling is specified by the manufacturer for installation.
