The UCE32100 solves a common install headache: USB devices that need to live far from the host system. By running USB 2.0 High-Speed signals over standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable, the UCE32100 extends the effective USB reach up to 100 meters — roughly 6× the native 5m USB limit — without a dedicated fiber run or active repeater chain. The built-in 4-port hub at the remote end means you can connect multiple USB peripherals at the distant location from a single cable run, reducing infrastructure cost in rack-mount AV, digital signage, and security deployments. LED status indicators on the unit confirm link and power state at a glance without needing to trace back to the host.
The UCE32100 is compatible with any USB 2.0 High-Speed host system running Windows, macOS, or Linux — no proprietary driver or controller required beyond standard OS USB stack support. On the peripheral side, it supports the full USB 2.0 device class: keyboards, mice, card readers, USB-to-serial adapters, USB capture devices, and similar low-to-medium bandwidth peripherals. It is designed to pair with ATEN KVM switches, KVM over IP units, and matrix systems where remote USB console or peripheral access is required — particularly useful alongside ATEN KVM and AV distribution products where local USB access to a remote rack is needed. Use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for the full 100m extension; Cat5 (non-enhanced) may limit reliable distance. Part of the broader USB extender category for structured cabling installations.
Power is supplied via a single DC jack on the local transmitter unit — verify the included power supply matches your regional voltage before installation. The remote hub unit draws power over the Cat5e/6 cable from the local unit; no separate power feed is needed at the remote end, which simplifies drops in ceiling voids or equipment racks. Humidity operating range is 0–80% RH non-condensing — avoid installations in unventilated equipment closets with condensation risk. For PoE switch and structured cabling environments, route the extension cable away from high-voltage power runs to minimize signal interference. Firmware v1.1.101 is the current production release as of mid-2025; update via the ATEN firmware utility if deploying units from older stock.
