Overview

The Unitech AS10-U is a compact 1D linear imager scanner built for point-of-sale terminals, retail counters, and light warehouse environments where straightforward barcode capture matters more than 2D imaging complexity. The AS10-U reads standard retail and logistics barcodes—Code 128, Code 39, UPC, EAN, and 15+ additional 1D symbologies—at 100 scans per second, sufficient for checkout and inventory verification workflows without stalling your throughput. It connects via USB (keyboard wedge mode) or RS-232 serial, integrating directly into legacy POS hardware and modern terminals without drivers or middleware. At 4.2 oz and 7 × 3 × 2.4 inches, it sits flat on a counter or mounts on an optional stand without consuming workspace.

Compatibility

Works with any host system accepting standard USB HID keyboard emulation or RS-232 serial input—POS registers, retail terminals, warehouse management software on Windows/Linux/macOS, and 1990s-forward legacy point-of-sale hardware. No drivers required for USB mode. RS-232 requires a native serial port or USB-to-serial adapter on modern machines. Compatible with barcode capture fields in inventory and sales applications that accept keyboard input or serial data streams. Installation Notes

Operating temperature range 0–50 °C is suitable for retail and light warehouse floors but not outdoor or freezer environments. Storage temperature rated to −20 °C survives shipping and off-season storage. Mechanical shock rating of 4 feet to concrete is typical for a counter scanner; drops from 6+ feet risk damage. Ambient light tolerance to 5,000 lux covers fluorescent retail lighting and sunlit storefronts; direct sunlight at very close range may degrade the scan window. Relative humidity 20–95% non-condensing handles standard indoor commercial environments. Current consumption is 80 mA at +5 V DC.
