Description

QNAP QXP-T52P Thunderbolt 5 Dual-Port PCIe Expansion Card

Overview

The QXP-T52P is a PCIe Gen4 x4 expansion card that adds two Thunderbolt 5 (USB Type-C) ports to a compatible QNAP NAS or workstation. If your NAS chassis has a spare PCIe slot and you need to connect high-throughput Thunderbolt 5 peripherals or enable direct host-to-NAS Thunderbolt Networking, this card closes that gap without replacing the enclosure. The QXP-T52P delivers 40 Gbps unidirectional bandwidth and 80 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth — enough headroom for multi-stream 4K/8K editing workflows or high-density NVR direct-attach scenarios where 10GbE is already the bottleneck.

Compatibility

Designed for QNAP NAS models with an open PCIe Gen4 x4 (or wider) slot. Typical target platforms include QNAP TVS-h series (TVS-h874, TVS-h1288X and similar high-bay units) and TS-x88 series enclosures that ship with Gen4-capable PCIe expansion bays. Verify your chassis PCIe slot specification and lane count before ordering — a Gen3 x4 slot will physically accept the card but will not deliver full Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth. For Thunderbolt Networking use cases, both the host and the NAS must support Thunderbolt Networking; check QNAP's compatibility matrix for your specific NAS model. Browse the full network-attached storage catalog for compatible enclosures.

Installation Notes

The card ships with a low-profile bracket pre-installed; a full-height bracket is included in the package for standard ATX/pedestal enclosures. Confirm your chassis clearance before installing — low-profile slots cannot accept a full-height bracket. PCIe Gen4 x4 requires a motherboard or backplane with Gen4 support; installing in a Gen3 slot halves available bandwidth and will cap Thunderbolt performance below the card's rated spec. No additional power connectors are required beyond PCIe slot power. Review QNAP's PCIe expansion card lineup if you need alternative connectivity (10GbE, SAS, U.2 NVMe) for the same chassis.
