Description

STI STI-QT Quickstop Fire Sprinkler Tool

Overview

The STI-QT is a reusable manual shut-off tool designed to stop water flow from fire sprinkler heads without deactivating the entire system. It addresses the critical need to contain water damage during head activation, testing, or accidental discharge — a scenario common in facility maintenance, fire drills, and emergency response where you need isolated control without a full system shutdown. The STI-QT works with ½" and ¾" sprinkler heads across multiple mounting styles: upright, pendant, sidewall, intact, damaged, recessed, or sheared.

Compatibility

The STI-QT is engineered for standard fire sprinkler head designs using ½" or ¾" threaded ports. It operates on intact sprinkler heads as well as damaged or sheared heads — a key distinction for retrofit or emergency repair scenarios where the head has already fractured. Recessed heads may require removal of the circular disk to access the threaded portion; the tool accommodates this without specialized adaptation.

Installation Notes

Operation is a three-step process: slide the upper arms around the threaded portion of the sprinkler head, push the tool forward aggressively until it cannot move further, then squeeze the handle until it locks in place. The tool is rated to 350 PSI (2400 kPa), matching standard municipal water pressure and most commercial sprinkler system pressures — confirm your system's operating pressure before deployment. Lightweight construction and one-hand operation mean a single responder can isolate a head quickly without additional equipment or training complexity. Always store the tool in an accessible location; an optional storage cabinet (STI-14200NR-Z002) is available to ensure readiness during an emergency.
