Overview
The STI KIT-DV16 is a 16mm nylon condensation drain vent designed to manage moisture accumulation in sealed access control enclosures and electronic lock housings. Condensation buildup inside strike assemblies, reader housings, and control panels degrades electronics over time — corrosion, contact creep, and component failure follow. The KIT-DV16 addresses this by venting internal moisture while maintaining the enclosure's protective integrity. Nylon construction provides chemical resistance in typical indoor and semi-protected mounting environments. Deploy this where sealed housings are mounted on exterior walls, in high-humidity corridors, or in temperature-cycled locations (loading docks, transition spaces).
Compatibility
The KIT-DV16 is compatible with STI access control strike assemblies and enclosures operating at 9VDC. This includes installations integrating STI electromechanical strikes, solenoid-driven hardware, and protective weather covers (such as the STI Stopper II series). The 16mm vent diameter fits standard cable entry hole configurations on door strike frames and larger weather-exposed access control devices. Verify your enclosure has a 16mm opening or can accommodate one before ordering.
Installation Notes
Position the vent at the lowest point of the enclosure to allow natural convection drainage of condensed moisture. Ensure the opening does not compromise gasket or weatherproofing integrity — use the vent in conjunction with the original weather gasket provided with your strike assembly. The nylon material resists typical indoor cleaning agents and mild outdoor moisture but is not rated for direct submersion or prolonged water spray (IP67 or higher is not achievable through a vent opening). Drill using a 7mm masonry bit if adapting existing installations. No electrical connection required — passive moisture management only.
