Description

STI BPF1614 EnviroArmour Fiberglass Back Panel

Overview

The BPF1614 is a 16-inch by 14-inch fiberglass reinforcement panel built to back strike installations in corrosive or high-impact environments. EnviroArmour construction means the panel resists weathering, salt spray, UV damage, and physical abuse — a real factor if your door hardware sits in loading docks, coastal areas, or facilities with frequent contact. It supports 9VDC powered strikes and mounts into standard door frame configurations. Use this when a strike alone won't survive the environment or when building code requires structural backing for energized hardware.

Compatibility

The BPF1614 integrates with STI strike products designed for back-panel mounting and 9VDC operation. Confirm your specific strike model accepts a fiberglass backing plate before ordering — mounting hole patterns vary across STI lines. Works in both surface and recessed door frame installations where standard plywood or metal backing is inadequate against weather or corrosion.

Installation Notes

Mounting uses standard fasteners through the fiberglass face into door frame studs or backup structure. Four fixing holes accommodate M8 or equivalent bolts. For outdoor installations, seal all fastener penetrations to prevent moisture ingress behind the panel. The fiberglass face is rigid enough to support strike solenoid recoil without flex or crack propagation — important on high-traffic manual push-to-exit doors where repeated strikes create vibration loads. Do not cut or drill additional holes on-site without consulting the strike manufacturer, as panel integrity affects strike performance and safety certification.
