Comnet C-SFP-MMF-SR SFP+ Multimode Fiber Transceiver
Overview
The Comnet C-SFP-MMF-SR is a 10GbE SFP+ short-range transceiver rated for 300 meters over multimode fiber (MMF). Deploy this when you need fiber connectivity between network infrastructure or surveillance systems within a campus or large facility, and multimode fiber is already in place or cost-effective to install. Short-range optics keep per-unit cost lower than long-reach variants while eliminating electrical noise and ground-loop issues that plague copper runs over distance.
Compatibility
The C-SFP-MMF-SR plugs into any SFP+ port on network switches, fiber media converters, and surveillance-grade network appliances that support hot-swappable SFP+ transceivers. Verify your switch or NVR supports standard SFP+ slot pinout and 10GbE negotiation before purchase. Multimode fiber (OM3 or OM4 cabling recommended for optimal distance and signal integrity) must be terminated on both ends with LC connectors matching the transceiver's duplex interface.
Installation Notes
Ensure fiber runs are properly cleaned before insertion—dirt on connector faces kills signal. The 300-meter distance rating assumes standard multimode fiber (OM3/OM4 grade); older OM1/OM2 cable may not reach full distance and should be tested before permanent deployment. Transceivers run hot during sustained traffic; provide adequate ventilation around the hosting switch chassis. No external power required—the SFP+ slot supplies all voltage.
