Description

SDC 492-GL4 Four Replacement Glass Rods

Overview

The SDC 492-GL4 is a four-pack of replacement glass rods designed for SDC emergency pull stations, specifically the 492 Emergency Pull Station series. These rods are wear items in the pull mechanism—when repeated activation of the station degrades or breaks the rod, you replace it without replacing the entire housing. Rated for 30VDC systems, the 492-GL4 restores mechanical engagement in existing installations and retrofit scenarios where the pull station housing remains in service.

Compatibility

The 492-GL4 rods are engineered for the SDC 492 Emergency Pull Station line. The 492 station operates on 30VDC at 18 mA (siren load) and 10 Amp contact rating, making it compatible with SDC door access systems and emergency release circuits commonly deployed in access control cabinets. Verify your existing pull station model number on the housing before ordering—this kit is specific to the 492 series and will not fit other SDC station designs.

Installation Notes

Replace the glass rods when the pull mechanism becomes sluggish, cracks appear, or the station fails to engage the release contact. No special tools are required beyond basic access to the station housing. The housing itself remains powered at 30VDC during installation—ensure the circuit is de-energized before opening the enclosure. Four replacement rods per kit support a single 492 station replacement cycle or two partial repairs depending on damage distribution.
