Overview
The Middle Atlantic QFP-1 is a 3U active rack fan panel designed to push 50 CFM of airflow through enclosed rack cabinets where passive ventilation isn't enough. Running on 120 VAC, it drops into any standard 19-inch rack and addresses heat buildup from densely loaded equipment — AV amplifiers, NVRs, managed switches, and power distribution gear that produce continuous thermal load. The QFP-1 occupies three rack spaces (5.25 in tall, 2 in deep) and mounts via two mounting points, keeping installation straightforward. Its black brushed and anodized finish matches Middle Atlantic rack furniture without looking out of place in a finished equipment room or server closet. This is a domestic-only product — not rated for international voltage, so confirm 120 VAC availability before specifying it in overseas deployments.
Compatibility
The QFP-1 fits any Middle Atlantic rack enclosure built to the standard EIA 19-inch rack format — including the BGR, ERK, MFRD, and WMRD series enclosures commonly deployed in security, AV, and IT infrastructure. It is equally at home in third-party 19-inch racks from Legrand, Belden, Chatsworth, and similar manufacturers, provided 120 VAC power is available inside the enclosure. For rack builds housing network video recorders, PoE switches, or high-density patch panels — all of which generate sustained heat — this panel provides active airflow without requiring a dedicated cooling chassis. It is not a replacement for a full rack ventilation system in high-density compute environments, but for typical 6U–15U security and AV rack builds it handles thermal management adequately. Pair with a rack power strip or PDU to supply the 120 VAC feed cleanly within the enclosure.
Installation Notes
Mount using standard rack screws through the two provided mounting points — no special tooling required beyond a screwdriver. The 2-inch depth keeps it clear of most cable management and rear equipment in shallower enclosures. Run a 120 VAC connection to the panel's power input; position it at the top or bottom of the rack depending on your airflow strategy (exhaust high, intake low is the standard approach for rack thermal management). At 50 CFM, this single-fan panel is sized for moderate heat loads — if your rack exceeds roughly 1,500–2,000 BTU/hr of dissipation, evaluate a dual-fan or higher-CFM option from the rack thermal management category.
