Overview
The AP8858NA3 is a rack-mountable power distribution unit from APC by Schneider Electric, designed to distribute 200V/208V/230V AC power across 20 outlets in high-density server, network, or surveillance equipment racks. With a NEMA L6-20P plug and a 9.8 ft cord, it connects directly to matching 20A twist-lock circuits — the wiring standard common in data centers and equipment rooms running 208V branch circuits off a dedicated PDU panel or UPS output. The 20-outlet count makes the AP8858NA3 a practical fit for racks populated with NVRs, PoE switch power supplies, video encoders, or access control servers where per-device power bricks would otherwise crowd the cable management path.
Compatibility
Connects to any 200V–230V single-phase circuit terminated with a NEMA L6-20 receptacle, including the output sockets on APC Smart-UPS and Symmetra line-interactive and online UPS units configured for 208V output. Suitable for rack enclosures accepting a standard 2.2-inch-profile horizontal PDU. Compatible rack equipment includes network video recorders, managed PoE switches, access control appliances, video management servers, and other 1U–2U rack-mount devices drawing standard IEC or NEMA outlet power. Verify individual outlet type on the AP8858NA3 against your equipment's power inlet (IEC C13/C19 vs. NEMA 5-15) before ordering — outlet face type determines cord-set compatibility at each device.
Installation Notes
The NEMA L6-20P plug requires a matching L6-20R receptacle rated for 20A at 208V — confirm your branch circuit and receptacle match before installation. The 9.8 ft (approximately 3m) cord length is fixed; plan rack placement relative to the PDU panel or UPS output accordingly. Mount horizontally in a standard 19-inch rack using the unit's integrated mounting ears. At 208V, derate the PDU load to 80% of the 20A circuit rating (16A continuous) per NEC best practice, limiting total connected load to approximately 3,300W to avoid tripping the upstream breaker under sustained draw.
